Meet Rory Canavan, Divisional Director – Ecology Ireland

With over 25 years of experience in ecology for the public and private sectors, Rory supports organisations in embedding biodiversity goals and Ecosystem restoration approaches across Europe and Ireland, from large-scale restoration projects to corporate strategies and targets. He has worked on high-profile projects, delivering ecological impact assessments, natural capital appraisals, and biodiversity strategies across sectors such as transport, energy, and urban development.

As a Divisional Director and strategic leader, Rory will use his extensive experience in building and managing large ecology teams to foster collaboration across disciplines to ensure the delivery of high-quality, science-driven outcomes to APEM Group clients. Recognised for his strength in translational ecology, technical expertise, and applied thinking, Rory bridges the gap between scientific data, business priorities, and policy frameworks, delivering meaningful ecological impact and engaging effectively with clients and stakeholders.
