New year, new territory as APEM begins work in Swedish waters with Freja Offshore

APEM are working with Swedish renewables developer Freja Offshore to provide seasonal offshore digital aerial surveys of two separate sites in the Baltic Sea.

Despite a challenging period for weather and a quick turnaround in securing survey times, winter survey flights are already under way in two locations. The surveys will provide robust data on marine wildlife which will give Freja confidence that environmental impacts have been considered, and that the recommended mitigation measures will meet the requirements for development.

Freja have a commitment to environmentally friendly design and an open and exploratory mindset, which matches APEM’s data-driven approach to innovation and continuous improvement. And as Swedish offshore wind is still in its infancy, APEM will be able to provide best practice advice based on decades of experience, observation, and research in renewables throughout Europe and beyond.

Sweden is a new territory for the APEM Group, and Freja Offshore are helping the country to establish itself as a pioneer in the field of offshore wind. APEM are delighted to be applying our experience in offshore marine wildlife surveys to new areas, and to support Sweden’s clean energy transition.
