APEM Group today announced the appointment of David Raftery as Managing Director for the Group’s business in the Asia Pacific region. David brings more than 25 years of experience of environmental consulting in the region, having previously led businesses at Arcadis, Jacobs and Golder Associates.
This is a significant milestone in the growth of APEM Group with the appointment of a visionary leader in region to strengthen our market position and enhance connection between our clients needs in region and the global expertise across the Group.
Building on our presence as having rapidly become one of the leading environmental consultancies in Australia, the appointment of David will drive further growth and development, bringing together our existing teams under one leader and further strengthening collaboration across our Group.

With over 25 years of experience leading environmental, planning, sustainability, spatial, survey and heritage teams within major international consultancies, David has delivered a broad range of services to client projects across a variety of sectors. He is passionate about developing high performing teams and delivering sustainable client solutions at the cutting edge of environmental science.
As Managing Director for Asia Pacific David’s main areas of focus will be to bring together the AARC, Attexo and Biosis technical communities, enhance the APEM Group brand with our stakeholders and delivering innovative environmental solutions to support our clients in their development ambitions.
David will collaborate closely with the Group’s Global Managing Directors to support clients across the whole lifecycle of their project development, to ensure the best of APEM Group is brought to our clients in the APAC region.

David Raftery – Career Biography
David has more 25 years’ experience in environmental consulting industry, latterly with Arcadis as Business Area Director (Resilience) & Country Director. Prior to that, he held a variety of leadership roles including Regional Solutions Director at Jacobs from 2015 to 2020, leading the technical delivery of environmental solutions in Asia Pacific.
He brings deep knowledge of the Asia Pacific markets and a unique insight into the changing needs of clients in this region. Combined with his extensive technical knowledge across the energy, water, waster, land development and oil & gas sectors, David’s deep relationships with clients will help to drive APEM Group’s growth in the region.
With a strong commitment to building high performing teams and supporting initiatives to create a workplace where all colleagues can prosper and develop rewarding careers, David is committed to continuing to develop APEM Group as the employer of choice within the environmental consulting industry
David has been involved in a range of large-scale projects in the transport sector, renewable energy generation, transmission and storage sectors, geospatial data management sectors and also environmental impact assessment and remediation sectors.
He holds a master’s degree in Environmental Science & Technology from Napier University in Edinburgh, Scotland and a Bachelor of Engineering Technology from Galway/Mayo Institute of Technology, Ireland. He is a graduate of the Australian Institute of Company Directors.
