APEM Group are delighted to welcome Senior EIA Consultants, Alex Gorringe and Sue Crooks to the Environmental Planning team. Working under Divisional Director, Jill Simpson, Alex and Sue will support APEM Group clients with Environmental Impact Assessments (EIAs), consents and post-consent compliance related to onshore and offshore renewables, transmission and other infrastructure projects across the UK and Ireland.
Alex Gorringe joins APEM Group with experience in large-scale projects and award-winning initiatives, supporting onshore wind, infrastructure, construction and solar farm projects into planning. An experienced EIA consultant and project manager, Alex will use her skills, knowledge and experience to support APEM Group clients gain consent for their onshore renewables and transmission projects primarily.
Alex has six years’ experience in environmental consulting with a strong background in EIA, Noise and Air Quality. Alex decided to combine her specialist training with a broader view, to take a holistic view of EIA projects and put learning into action. She especially enjoys engaging with the public at stakeholder events and considering the individual and communities in the paperwork-heavy world of environmental planning. Alex prides herself on the quality of information she provides.

APEM Group are also delighted to welcome Senior EIA Consultant, Sue Crooks to the Environmental Planning team. After 20 years in the Royal Airforce (RAF) as an Air Traffic Control Officer, including working for NATO and providing advice to the government of Afghanistan during an operational deployment in the country, Sue worked as an aviation consultant to the wind energy industry, airports and Ministry of Defence before moving into environmental consultancy.
Sue gained experience in the aviation aspects of EIA for wind farms, which led to broadening her work into the operational aspects of airspace and airport procedures. Her new position with APEM Group comes after a seven-year role teaching Geography to 11- to 18-year-olds. Her role as an EIA consultant with APEM Group will combine her skills in organisation, communication, problem solving and decision making, as well as building on her aviation specialisms.
Sue Crooks
I’m looking forward to working within the growing Environmental Planning team, to deliver EIA Scoping to inform proportionate EIA reporting that adds value to projects and their interaction with the environment. I’ve been welcomed into a diverse team of experienced consent consultants who are providing me with fantastic support whilst I regain knowledge and understanding of current regulations and methods in environmental consultancy after my recent career change.

Sue and Alex will be reporting to Rebecca Baker, Associate Director and EIA Technical Lead Onshore within the Environmental Planning Division under Divisional Director, Jill Simpson.
